Welcome to Seal Class 2021/2022

In Seal class this half term our topic is ‘Food glorious food.’ We will be exploring our preference and trying new things. In the kitchen we will be creating bread for the Jewish festival of Hanukkah and learning how to use different kitchen equipment. We will be looking at photographs of ourselves now and when we were babies to see what differences we can spot and in Music we will be creating beats and working on recognising volume.

Week Commencing 06.12.21

This week is Seal class we have been very busy. On Wednesday we made some Christmas biscuits and on Thursday we decorated them and the table. In Maths this week we have been talking about 2D shapes and making pictures using them. We looking carefully at the shape and then found the matching symbol to stick of top of it.  In literacy this week we have been trying to develop our turn taking skills by playing board games with our friends. On Thursday we had our own film premiere we ate popcorn and watch our Christmas Concert on giant been bags on the floor. In P.E we were taking care to get on an off the equipment safely we watched an adult then carefully followed.

Wow mention of the week is: Lachlan Zurek for getting on and off the P.E equipment carefully and waiting his turn. Well done Lachlan we are so proud of you!

Week Commencing 29.12.21

This week is Seal class we have been talking about Christmas we have decorated our tree and the classroom and we have coloured some Christmas cards for the Morrisons’ Christmas card competition (fingers crossed we win). On Tuesday we made some chocolate twist, we enjoyed licking the chocolate off the spoons. In Maths this week we have been counting objects to check we have the correct amount. We looking at the number then put the right amounts of candles in each playdough cupcake.  In literacy we practised writing over the letters in our name.

Wow mention of the week is: George Parkin for matching objects with amounts in Maths and trying hard to vocalise in phonics at home and in school. Well done George we are so proud of you!

Star of the week:  Finley Akroyd for listening to a story and remembering key events. Well Done, Finley!

Week Commencing 15.11.21

This week is Seal class we have been talking about when we were babies, we have been comparing pictures of us as babies and us now, we have really grown. On Monday we had a visit from a musical group called Live Music now we went into the hall to listen to the different types of music instruments they had. It was Brilliant we loved it!! We also made some beans on toast and practised washing all the pots after. In Maths this week we have been sorting objects into colour and sizes. In literacy we practised writing over the letters in our name. In Art we used apples and pears to make some printings.

Wow mention of the week is: Charlie Abel for sharing equipment with his friends. Well done Charlie!

Star of the week: Esme Copsey for making beans on toast, she buttered the bread and put beans on top independently. Well done Esme

Week Commencing 15.11.21

This week is Seal class we have been talking about our emotions and how we feel at school. On Monday we made some scrambled egg on toast using the microwave and toaster. In Maths this week we have been identifying more and less and full and empty we have also been matching objects by shape and colour. In literacy we wrote shopping lists and then took our lists to seal class shop.  

Wow mention of the week is: Alex Tierney for beginning to count outload. 

Star of the week: Sebastian Carter for his fantastic work in phonics identifying his sounds verbally and using symbols. Well Done Sebastian!

 

This week is Seal class we have been talking about things we like and don’ like to eat by tasting new foods. On Monday we made some bread to celebrate the Jewish festival of Hannukah. In Maths this week we have been consolidating our learning of bigger and smaller. On Wednesday we set up a shop we exchanged coins for our favourite foods.

Wow mention of the week is: George Parkin for helping putting away activities after learning even though he didn’t get them out. Well done George we are so proud of you!  

Star of the week: Lachlan Zurek for fantastic listening in P.E to the instructions STOP and START Well Done Lachlan this is a great achievement.  

 

This week is Seal class we have! On Monday we made a fruit salad we cut and peeled the fruit. Some of us were very brave and tasted fruits we hadn’t seen before e.g mandarin, watermelon, strawberries and mango.  In language and Communication and we have been focusing on joining in with familiar texts. Our favorite is ‘We’re going on a bear hunt.’ In Maths we have been joining in with counting songs to 10.

Star of the week: George Parkin for repeating the word bear while we were reading the story ’We’re going on a bear hunt’ Well Done George!

 

Weekly updates:

This week is Seal class we have been taking about bonfire night and we have created our own firework pictures using paint and cardboard tubes and on Tuesday we made Mango Lassi to celebrate Diwali. In Maths this week we have been talking about bigger and smaller and the number 1. We have also being working hard to share and take turns.

Wow mention of the week is Ethan Darby for staying in the hall for the last 4 days at dinner time. Well done Ethan we are so proud of you!

Star of the week: Alex Tierney for eating all his dinner sat down in the hall and for getting his own top on for P.E. Well Done Alex this is a great achievement.

 

In Seal class this half term our topic is ‘There’s no place like home.’ We will be learning about ourselves and our families, creating pictures of our families in art, learning to throw a ball over and under arm and explore a range of new foods.

This week is Seal class we have! On Tuesday we made a vegetable tart, we carefully cut some tomatoes, peppers and mushrooms. In language and Communication and we have been focusing on the names of familiar objects. Some of us labelled the objects with symbols and some of us said what the objects were. In Maths we have been exploring 1 what it looks like and how many it is.

 

Any wow mentions from the week. Alex Tierney noticing when numbers are out of order and completing the sequence. Well Done Alex!

 

Star of the week: Sebastian Carter kicking and throwing a ball at a target with some accuracy in P.E Well done Sebastian!

 

 

This week is Seal class we have been printing, we made a catwalk and walked up and down it to make prints of our feet. We loved it! On Monday we made Pizza ensuring we took turns sharing and using the equipment.  In Maths we have been focusing on ordering numbers to 10 and beyond.

Any wow mentions from the week. Esme Copsey for looking after her friend when he wasn’t feel well. Well done Esme!

Star of the week: Charlie Abel for showing kindness. He has been sharing the bikes outside and pushing his friend in the prams. Well Done Charlie!

This week is Seal class we have been focusing on environmental sounds by listening to a sound and identifing which picture it was. We have also made Jam tarts ensuring we take turns sharing and using the equipment.  In Maths we have be working on understanding and identifying ‘none’.
