This half term, we are learning to be ‘Street Detectives’ by investigating are local area. We are looking at the natural environment in Forest School and having lots of fun learning outdoors.
We are also developing our independent living skills through daily breakfast club and week food technology sessions.
Every Thursday, we enjoy our PE sessions, especially chase games. This half term we are developing our throwing and target work skills.
Wellbeing is a vital part of our curriculum and we love to dance and sing. We also include yoga and mindfulness activities in our daily routine so that we are ‘Just Right’ for learning.
Week Beginning 11 October 2021
Squirrel Class have had a fantastic last week of term. We have worked hard and had lots of fun. This week we have been working on patterns (pegboards, matching socks and cubes) and problem solving in mathematics.
We have also looked at different careers that we would and wouldn’t like to do in the local community. We used our computing skills to type our answers.
WOW moments: Pollie for great walking using her walking frame.
Congratulations to Louie in Squirrel Class for winning first prize in the Opportunities Doncaster Art Competition.
Louie was asked to draw a picture of ‘What Doncaster Means to Me.’ He drew the giraffes from the Yorkshire Wildlife Park.

Week Beginning 04 October 2021
Squirrel Class have had another exciting week. All pupils loved Forest School where they made noughts and crosses games from natural resources. They also loved lighting a fire and making a hot drink for themselves.
Dark Day – On Thursday, we had a dark day with no technology – The pupils loved the different activities where we painted, played games and had lots of fun.
WOW moments: All the class for joining in the hockey lesson and trying really hard to develop their ball skills.
Star of the Week: Korri for being caring and helpful to his friends.
Week Beginning 27 September 2021
Squirrel Class have had another busy but enjoyable week. We have been continuing to develop our computing skills and have been writing our names, changing font style and colour. We also searched the internet for different jobs and have been copying and pasting images.
In art we continued our work on Street Detectives and have been painting pictures of our house.
WOW moments: Aimee for independently using her communication iPad to form simple sentences.
Star of the Week: William for showing great resilience during his outdoor learning – using a flint to create a spark to start a fire.
Week Beginning 20 September 2021
This week, we have made the most of the Autumn sunshine and have taken our learning outside the classroom. Korri loved going on a shape hunt in the playground and Aimee enjoyed sorting pentagons and hexagons.
On Wednesday, all pupils loved a musical production of Treasure Island. Summer gave it two thumbs up and Logan loved the music and dancing.
WOW moments: Brianne for leading a game of bingo with her peers and congratulating her friend for winning.
Star of the Week: Pollie for self-propelling her wheelchair in school and trying to be as independent as possible.
