Mole Class
A warm welcome to Mole Class.

Class Teacher: Mel
LSA’s: Violeta, Marlena and Stewart

Hello, welcome to the Mole class page. In Mole class we provide a variety of learning opportunities that excite, engage and challenge our pupils. Together we will make mistakes and become resilient learners.

Week commencing 28/06/2021

Independence Skills

This week we attempted to make our very own ice cream. The children did an amazing job at pouring the different ingredients into the bowl. The hard work was mixing it all up until the liquid became thick. However, Team Mole managed to work together and use an electric hand whisk to mix it all up. We loved adding different toppings to it afterwards before eating it all up!

Sports Day

In Mole Class, we have been practicing very hard for sports day. We have been practicing to run in a straight line and as fast as we can. We have also practiced throwing different objects using the under arm technique.

All of our efforts paid off on the day as Team Mole were exceptional at running and throwing and more importantly, they cheered each other on! Fantastic sportsmanship Mole Class.

Welcome Back!

This week has been a very busy week with all of our pupils returning to Mole Class. We have been establishing routines and settling back into school life.

We had a very important job to do this week…

We have been talking about how to make our classroom a safe and happy place. Take a look at our classroom rules:

Independence

This week we went into the cookery room to make our very own ‘Bear on Toast’ snack. We did a super job at chopping the different ingredients up as well as spreading the delicious spread. We couldn’t wait to tuck into our snack.

We want to say a big thank you to Isaac, Johnny, Lucas and Porsha for washing and drying all of our pots up after we had finished!

Worth a Mention

Well done to Ethan for asking a question using a full sentence:

“Are you going for your dinner?”

Well done to Jay who asked to go to the toilet this week!

Well done to Porsha for her writing her name independently!

Our Star of the Week award goes to:

Easter Egg Hunt!

This week in math’s we have engaged in lots of different Easter activities. We have been matching quantity to numeral by feeding the rabbit carrots. We have been ordering numbers by putting the rabbit’s footprints in the correct order and we have also been finding the total of two groups by counting all the eggs in each nest. Our favourite activity was when we went on an Easter egg hunt to find the different numbers to put in the correct order.

Catching Evil Pea!

This week Mole Class have been on a mission to catch Evil Pea. We had received a letter from Supertato to help him trap Evil Pea. The children in Mole class put their cooking skills to use and made some jelly to hopefully catch Evil Pea. We really enjoyed making the jelly and then also eating it at the end of the day.

Science

In science we have been exploring objects by using our sense of smell. We were super brave to smell what was in the pot. We then decided if we liked the smell or didn’t like the smell. We weren’t impressed with the garlic smell, but we liked the smell of the candle. We had some very good guesses at what was in the pot before using our eyes to see what it was.

Our Star of the Week award goes to:

Tahreem

A huge well done to Tahreem this week who has done some amazing work when listening to and following instruction to make jelly for Evil Pea. She has also engaged really well with PE lessons and has enjoyed playing team games.

Creative!

This week we have been exploring symmetrical patterns. We have really enjoyed creating patterns with paint and then folding the piece of paper over to create a print on the opposite side. It was a bit of a surprise to see what was going to happen when we opened the piece of paper.

Good Health

We went into the cooking room to plan and make our very own smoothies this week. First we decided which fruit we wanted to put into the smoothie and then we prepared the fruit. This involved peeling and chopping the fruit, which was tiring work. The blender was very loud so some of us covered out ears. The noise was all worth it when we finally got to try our very own home made smoothies. I am very proud of how sensible Mole Class were and how well they all did at washing their hands before handling the food.

Outdoor Learning

This week we have been outside exploring the school grounds and collecting natural objects to put into our feely box for Science. We then had to guess and describe the object that was in the box. We did a fantastic job at describing the different textures using the correct symbol or using our words.

Our Star of the Week award goes to:

Jay Watt

Mathematicians

This week in math’s we have been focusing on repeating patterns. We have been using different objects to create colourful repeating patterns. We even created our own repeating pattern by stamping different types of vegetables.

Good Health

We REALLY enjoyed making our very own superhero smoothies this week. First we talked about what makes a smoothie healthy. We decided that strawberries and bananas were a good healthy choice and that chocolate wasn’t. We then decided which colour smoothie we wanted to make…

Green for the Hulk or Red for Iron Man?

Afterwards we followed the superhero smoothie recipe and chopped up the ingredients. We then whizzed the fruit up in the blender. We really liked the red Iron Man smoothie, but we weren’t sure about the green Hulk smoothie.
